How this maps to real mixing hardware
Mixing hotends (multi-input hotends like a Diamond or Rich Rap-style mixer) and gradient printing on an AMS or MMU both work by feeding two or more filaments into one nozzle at controllable ratios — this estimator previews roughly what that blend will look like before you commit filament and print time to it.
This is a light blend, not a pigment blend
This calculator mixes colors the way light mixes (additive RGB averaging), but physical filament pigments mix more like paint — subtractively. A real blend of two filaments often comes out muddier, darker, or less saturated than this preview shows, especially when mixing very different base colors or different filament brands with different pigment chemistry.
Print a small test swatch first
Before committing a full print to a calculated ratio, print a small test piece (a single-wall cylinder or cube works well) at that exact ratio and check it against what you actually wanted — it's much cheaper than discovering the color is wrong on a finished part.
